Every month, the interns generate a newsletter to send out to DeNada's email list. These newsletters consist of brief, detailed updates about our monthly events. In September, we wrote a newsletter about our two main events that DeNada was present for. Other newsletters have consisted of giveaway information, large sales, such as black friday and cyber monday, and anything else relevant to that month.
The newsletter differs from DeNada's blog posts because the information put in must be germane and straightforward. It is supposed to inform the reader quickly and efficiently because most of the newsletters are read on a cell phone or a mobile device. This means that the newsletter will not be read unless it is short and informative. Unlike the blog posts, there is not much background information, nor does it attempt to receive feedback or comments from its readers. This causes the demographic to change compared to those that read the blog.
The newsletter taught me how to write competently and productively. I learned to distinguish the pertinent information from the irrelevant information in an article as well as writing in a way that draws the reader's attention immediately rather than "fluffing" the material.
